With several states posing new marijuana legislation to voters in November, the flood gates are about to open to a tsunami of demand for credible professionals at the ready to keep cannabis entrepreneurs afloat. Attorneys, accountants and other professional service providers have a remarkable opportunity to ride the wave, but only if they are abreast of currents on the leading edge of the cannabis industry.
The Cannabis Professional Advancement Series (CPAS) is a continuing education lecture series offering advanced cannabis education for professionals that are in or entering the cannabis industry. Established January 2016 in Denver, Colorado by a consortium of legal and financial professionals led by attorney Robert T. Hoban, managing partner of Hoban & Feola, CPAS provides a platform to guide the global professional standard, while normalizing the education for the regulatory and business environment for the cannabis industry.
Next month’s event takes place from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., Friday, September 16, at the University of Denver. The September CPAS program will feature nine lectures with 24 speakers addressing current and pressing issues of the cannabis economy including Section 280E of the Federal Income Tax Code, real-estate, mergers and acquisitions, finance, e-commerce and tax filings and more. Attendees will receive advanced education from industry legal and financial professionals starting with Hoban, who opens the conference with a keynote address titled, Cannabis Law 101.
While the CPAS continuing education event is intended to educate professionals, seasoned industry executives and entrepreneurs exploring new opportunities, the open to the general public. Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credits for attorneys and Continued Professional Education (CPE) credits for accountants are available in some cases.
